SPANAWAY, Wash. -- Investigators from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said a 34-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by an oncoming car in Spanaway Friday.

Police said 34-year-old Tammy Lee of Spanaway, was driving a Honda Civic heading southbound on Spanaway Loop Road when she lost control on a curve and crossed into oncoming traffic. She was struck by a woman driving a Firebird who was in the northbound lanes.

Lee died a short time later.

The other driver involved was taken to the hospital, along with her two children, for evaluation. Investigators said the three are not believed to have life-threatening injuries.

All four lanes of Spanaway Loop Road were closed for a short time following the crash. Two lanes have been reopened.
