Default question about emissions

so i have a '99 WS6 that i bought from a lady who lived in california. i live in washington state and we have different laws concerning emissions so i was curious if theres anything on my car that i dont need that might free up some horsepower? this might be a dumb question but i was thinking about it earlier and then i just got curious about it. thanks

There are EGR and AIR pumps. Don't really free up any hp but they do clean up the engine bay. The AIR pump is pretty heavy too. Just do a search and you can find how to remove them.

Before removing these, make sure you find out what your state's laws are on emissions. Here in Cali they do a check to make sure all factory emissions equipment is still installed and registered with the PCM. Also, be advised most states are probably eventually going to adopt CAFE standards.

Leave it alone, you will not gain any noticeable 'seat of the pants' increase in HP.
In the long run you be better served by having all the original emissions devices present and working. You can do the standard bolt-on modifications to give the car more HP and still pass emissions.
Besides its against Federal law to tamper with any emissions equipment even if your state does not care.

Since emissions testing & such varies from state to state, I'm moving this to your regional forum. We all know what Federal Law requires, and I'm sure other folks in your area can provide you with more info on what you can get away with....
