Since it's in a rather inconspicuous spot, I'd grind it down to bare metal, prime, paint, and clear. My guess is that's gonna spread. Dunno how far or how fast, but it will.

fix it now! Waiting will make it worse and more costly.

You might be able to sand it out and just paint it if it is not bad but you won't know until you tear into it.

I'd just get some Dupli-Color rattle cans. Primer, Paint, and Clear and you should be set.

so i took my car to get an estimate to get my inner wheel wells painted and my guy found brass where the rust was.... like the owner before me used brass to weld the rocker panel to the quarter panel. but anyway he said its going to be $380 to sand blast my wheel wells, spray it with protective coating, take out the brass, weld the cracks, paint and to spray a chip protector.

do all the T/A's have that white spot next to the rust? i noticed my fender on that side has a bit of that but no rust present (southern car, never seen a single northern winter) i wonder ifi ts built up wax or something in a crevice

^ That's what would do.

Sand it/Dremmell it out, fill it maybe if it needs it. Prime, then paint it.

Just look for other spots, usually there is always more than one.

well i went ahead and touched up mine a bit with a some touch up paint just so i wouldn't have rust issues further on (you can see the 3 or 4 chips i touched up in the pic above. they were right on the lip of the lower inner wheel well)

has your car been driven through a lot of northern winters? just curious because rust on these cars seems rare, but then again mine was a southern car all its life until 2007 and i stored it last winter and this winter.

Sometimes it doesn't need to have been winter, get a rock chip you don't notice after a while it'll rust.

My camaro has some rust there too, as well as the tops of the rocker panels due to messed up paint I want to fix it (and a few other cosmetic issues) but its an old beat up v6 not sure if it is worth it! Probably needs an entire repaint.
