Engine Bay and Rattle Can
Would using something such as high temp 500 degree black gloss work? Would I need to primer first and would it need a clear. If so, what would you recommend using?
The car is black.
Then I primered the piece.
Then I useed high gloss 500* black paint.
Followed up by 500* clear.
Came out really nice. As nice as done in a professional booth...no. But it's pretty close. And waaayyy cheaper.

Professionally painted covers. Yes, if cash is on hand...definitely the way to go

Powdercoating...definitely another way to go.
It's up to you, and with everything out of there its not hard and not a bad place to paint since it doesn't need to be as perfect as the outside.
i wanted a subtle look, so i went with a semi-flat duplicolor acrylic enamel black.
it worked out fine, and i still haven't had a single problem with it, and it looks a million times better than it did when it was stock, and is also durable.
oh yea, and i never pulled the engine, just tucked the wires on the shock tower inner fenders, along with the fuel lines and hood latch cable, unscrewed anything that could be pushed out of the way(ex:ps res, intake, coolant overflow tank/batt tray), and proceeded to tape everything else off.
you can't tell it was ever done, and it's flawless.
very happy with the simple and elegant look of it.
i'll try and snap some pictures.
