Default Bent Engine Compartment Pics

I picked up a front-end wrecked 99 Firebird for a winter project. One fender, the bumper cover, and possibly the hood will need to be replaced. The unknown is the damage to what I call the engine box. The impact was from the left front and you can see by the fender / door seams how the box or inside body is bent to the right. You’ll also notice the offset on the air box and the mounting holes. The engine and drive-train are straight as far as I can tell. Aside from the damage, the car actually drives very well and tracks perfectly straight. Except for seeing the crunched hood, you wouldn’t even know you were driving a wrecked car. I was told by someone who works in a body shop that the engine box area can possibly be straightened on a frame machine. I know a lot about engine work, but I’m new to body work. Has anyone ever seen this part of the front engine compartment straightened before? Thanks for your input.

A frame puller can possibly straighten that out for you. Sucks though. I wouldn't want to deal with a car with frame damage... Good luck to you!

Thanks. I bought the car from a retired couple who had bought it new. It had been garage kept its entire life and has 57K miles on it. Aside from being wrecked, it was pretty much in like new condition inside and out. The owner didn’t have full coverage insurance, so I paid him $2500 for it with a clean title. If I do most of the bolt-on work myself and have a friend paint the parts that will need to be painted, I think I should come out ok. Even after paying a frame shop a few hundred to straighten everything out. I felt like the purchase was fairly low risk since I thought I could easily recoup my original investment of $2500 even if I had to part it out.

2500 easy and some if you part it out.... motor trans is what like 3k? good luck getting back to kick ***! mine was sorry when i got her... still not cherry but i have 8 in her and i could still come out on top!!! nice find!

No, not for the 3.8L that's in there.
