Default Would a CETA Clone be "Taboo" ?

Ive always loved the CETA yellow... and Id love to have one.

I wasnt planning on painting my car... but as you can see in my build thread, I am doing lots of work, and re-doing the whole car. so it would be a great time for a re-spray.

I never wanted a black car... the lines just seem to bleed away.

So i want a lighter color or something bright.

like the CETA yellow..

or maybe a pearl silver.

But really my question is... Would a CETA Clone be taboo...

I dont want to be 'that guy' with the fake CETA...

but im sure people would be just as pissed if i bought a CETA as violated it as i did this one.

Itll have an 454 LSX all motor. (LS7 based)

In advance. That you for your opinions.

the only way i think it'd get a little wierd is if you did all the decals, emblems, and things like that. if you were to just get the same color, and do the black bumper and all, i dont think it would be a bad thing at all. i too really like the color and wouldn't mind having it. just dont do all of the special appearance things that truly make it a CETA

I have seen a charcoal colored car with the ceta side stripes in silver & it looked pretty good. Not sure if you were considering the side stripes or not but a differant color combo with those might be nice. Might get you what you want without pissing off the "true ceta" guys. Sounds like its gonna be a hell of a build....

yeah if the stripes are used on different colors its not bad either, just when you put them on the yellow car.

IMHO i don't see anything wrong w/ painting ur color yellow and maybe add the decals...
But don't try to pass it as a original zeta because thats when people will get on your back...

Personally I have never been too crazy about that color yellow, I know I am in the minority but I would prefer to see a corvette yellow. The CETA yellow just looks a little washed out to me. Could go with a non GM color & that might make the lines stand out a little more too.

Thats an interesting idea. With using a different color, then adding the stripes...

I would want to run the stripes.. as i feel it "mans up" an other wise horrible color...

Also.. I will be running solid black (Any Finish), or black chrome wheels.

I sure wouldnt try to pass it off as an original. My car isnt an '02, so there will be no LOB badges...

I have a hawk hood now.. so if i were to do this.. Id sell it and get a WS9 Outlaw hood.

Im not too worried about people being pissed that im copying the CETAs

as i feel i more than make up for the in the time and money spent on making it original...

I plan on driving the crap outta the car. and hitting up every show, cruise, whatever i can all over the country.

There just isnt anyway for me to paint my car the same color and apply the stripes... without looking like a clone.

Tho, ill have different wheels, hood, and engine.

Keep the hood you have, I think it flows much nicer than the WS9

I guess it depends on what i end up doing.

I like how my hood looks, and obviously "everybody" has a WS6 Hood...

But I would prefer something more aggressive... maybe.

LOL, I don't think you need something more agressive with your current build... Could always go with a shaker style hood, If I had a TA thats what I would do, with an old school bird too..... I know

lol

I know its hard to get more aggresive (on the street)(all motor) than what i have.

But I kinda feel that maybe i need a hood to match the aggresivosity <<<AWESOME WORD

^^^I'm so tired... but those stipulations above made me chuckle.

I really dont wanna get into custom body work. (You do great work, but not me.. lol)

I can do basic stuff. and can learn to paint... but im much to picky... so that would take me forever.

I guess the grass is always greener, i just like change, and modification...

I'm sure once i got a WS6 style hood, id want a hawk again. but right now, i like the idea of a 454 LS7 WS9 outlaw CETA w/ Z06 wheels.

Anyway... my phys lab report is done. so its about that time.

Thanks for the brainstorm session mcnord. Ill read back over this tomorrow.

I don't like CETA's much. I think they look tacky. A nice yellow with the CETA stripes painted would look better. I hate decals of any kind.

What are you thinking?

Black is the ultimate Trans Am colour. I wish mine was black.

The CETA's look Tutti Frutti with those pinstripes.

hevens no. black...best color on a Trans am....naaaaa. black just doesn't capture the designs true essence. it can be made to look great in black, dont get me wrong, but take a STOCK pewter, som, red, silver, nbm, trans am -even sleek beaks- and you already have a better looking car. the lines of the car really get washed out with black

i've only seen the mecham hood on like 3 cars total, and didnt like the other 2, but this car, has got to be one of the meanest/cleanest looking T/A's i've ever seen. just figured i'd throw that out there since your thinking of different hoods.

I would most likely have the stripes painted on, but i would at least clear over the decals.

I was even thinking about having the stripes artistically airbrushed on... Give the guy a little freedom.

But, i know its not for everybody... Not everyone wants a 454 LSX either.

Black is too common. And boring. Like said below, it washes out the lines.

Exactly! I was looking for something bolder. That stands out.

I guess if you think CETAs are "Tutti Frutti".... Cool!

You know what else is frutti? My 454 with a bitch 248/254 ~.700 lift cam.

Trusts old car had the mecham hood....

The Mecham Hood is cool... But from the front... it looks like a flat stocker too much.

Maybe the CETA design isnt very aggressive... Thats fine. My motor is.

Also like you said.... I was thinking about having the stripes airbrushed on. but having the painter modify the stripes maybe.
