Default Clear coat peeling paint prep?

What has to be done to the hood to prep for paint? The clearcoat is peeling off (thanks GM). The hood will be a different color, but do i need to remove all the old clear to ensure it won't flake back up or can i just feather it in?

Thanks

I'd have all the clear stripped.. If you plan to paint the whole hood, why not sand it all down?

If it isn't needed then i would rather not. My clear is also peeling on the car so i don't want to strip the whole car if not needed.

If the clear on your hood is starting to go, doesn't it make sense to sand all of the clear off the hood? It's only a matter of time before it all starts to go.

Does it make sense? Only if it needs to be done. If you can respray over it then why not? The clear is also peeling on the car so when i spray that i do not feel like stripping a entire car if it isn't needed.
