How to get this bare metal painted?
My dad was telling that all I would really need to do is clean, prime, paint and enjoy. Is there a particular primer that I should use? High build or something?
If I can get away with not using a spray gun and just using a rattle can or brush (POR-15?), I would like to, to save money because I do not have an air compressor or access to one.
I have heard that I could use POR-15 to paint this and that it comes in a gloss black?
P.S. Does bare and painted metal follow the same procedure as far as prepping and painting goes? If it is easy enough, I might paint more of the surrounding area.
P.P.S. I am not done with the rust removal process yet.
Thank you in advance for all of the help.

That is using their metal prep and following directions to a T too.
It is not sunlight resistant so will chalk. What ever you use make sure you get all the acid from battery out of cracks and then use a metal prep like ospho or metal etch.
Not many paint manufacturers will recommend etching primers under their paint.
Oh and buy a sealed glassmat battery too.
where can i get this etching primer? is it available at a place like walmart or lowe's or a automotive paint supply store only?
thanks
for the primer before the paint, should i apply multiple coats or only if i sand through the primer to the bare metal again?
thanks tech
