What's the best way to paint engine bay.
Motor is out, what do I need to clean all the oil, grease, ect. with?
Do I need to sand it or just what.
As you can tell, I don't know a thing about painting. (Or anything else )

yes clean it all off with wax and grease remover, then sand with 400 or red scuff pad, then paint.

 

^^What he said! I wish they would have cleared the damn engine bays from the factory.

 

I wish my motor was out so I could do the same. Mine is white now, want it to be satin black.

Basically what they said- sand, wax/grease remover, paint. A few friends of mine threw a tarp over the engine bay and used some one those halogen shop lights under it to throw some heat and help cure the paint. Just a thought.

 

Depends how much detail you want to put into it. I'm the process of redoing mine right now - fews pics in my sig might help. If you're simply looking to 'brighten' things up, prep, prep prep....when you think you've done enough, prep some more. A good degreaser to start followed by plenty of a sequence of surface prep stages (sanding primarily). Make sure you're surfaces are clean at prime and between coats of your base color and clear you should be ok.
