Need a Quick Fix
I just got my car out of storage and I have clear chipping off the black bumper just outside the wheel well on the passenger rear-quarter. My friend who has done body work before, but not professionally suggested as a "Quick fix" to stop the process to get some spray clear and mask off the area, and then spray a few coats over it. When it dries, buff it out. Does this sound correct? I didn't want to do anything that would mess it up anymore. Thanks!
quick PROPER fix would be to scuff the area down and be extremely careful not to cut thru the paint. now if that's the original paint keep in mind that they are very very thin and easy to cut through. if this happen your going to need the basecoat.
scuff bumper. attempt to smooth the edge of the clearcoat that is flaking then clear the bumper. i suggest shooting the clear slowly with the HVLP gun. if u going to do it with a rattle can do light coat let it dry according to the instruction then clear it again making sure every spot is shinny (look at it in different direction to be sure)
