Default Advice on touching up?

my dad is convinced that if I try to touch it up if will look much worse than it is right now. I've been quoted over $500 for the whole bumper to be painted, and I don't plan on doing that. I have no clue how to even touch anything up, but I'd be willing to try if I'm convinced it can be improved. also, if touching up turns out to be easy... I've got some chips on the hood I'll be fixing as well..

Truthfully your dad is right. You'll see raised edges on the chips and the paint won't have the same finish or exact tone. You're better off saving and having it done right.

I guess I'll just have to let it go because that's a huge hunk of change and silver is real hard to color match anyway..

Like said before just save up some money and get it redone. I tried to fix mine (black paint) and needless to say its worse now then if I would have left it! Same place as yours too. I've decided to just save up now and have the whole car resprayed.

usually when I touch up ppl's cars I empty the liquid into a cup and use a toothpick to fill in the scratches....Then, depending on the paint condition, I either wetsand and polish or just use microabrasive polishes to blend. comes out fine .
