usually i'd do Duplicolor engine primer over the bare, well prepped metal, cure, sand primer, paint w/ Duplicolor engine enamel. This seems to work but the Duplicolor primer is a 500 degree primer so who cares if they make a 1200 degree engine paint.

Then walks in VHT caliper paint...i had some satin black on the shelf and decided to experiment w/ my 454 intake. Scuffed it, degreased, and shot it. It looks killer but which method would you take for a long term nice look?

I'm about to paint the LT1 block and intake which is why i'm making sure this is right.

I've always thought it needed the primer to be a finish that would endure on metal, but the caliper paint is tough stuff it seems, although i have no long term review.

Any tips or tricks are appreciated!!
