Default How to Patch Chips

Hey, everyone.

I'm interested in finding out how to go about and what I would need to patch a small paint chip? Are there supplies I can get from an auto store that will allow me to do the job myself, or is this something that should be done by a body shop if the person has no prior experience?

Any info/advice is greatly appreciated.

If they're small stone chips, get some touch up paint and a steady hand..

If they're large, then it depends..

They didn't come out as I had hoped, but at least you can make out the size:

The chips are at the center of the pictures: the surrounding spots are leaves/dirt. As you can see, they're quite small, but there is dimensional loss, although not too deep. I'd say less than 1 mm.

The color is arctic white. Where can I go to get the best paint for this job?

Thanks very much.

I took my car to a detail shop and asked the same question. The guy said to get touch up paint and a toothpick and over several applications, build it up. Wait a week, then buff with compound and polish to blend it.

Never tried it.

you'll never get it perfect. use one of the paint pens i find works the best. then if you have a porter cable polisher with some good polish you can even it off.
