Default How much is a new door? (colision)

Sorry no pics, my phone is being homo but how much is a new door for a black 99 Trans am?
Someone hit my door an cracked it vertically right in the center of the door. Its about 14 inches long. The insurance deductible is $500, is it worth paying out of pocket? Im taking it to the Hilbish ford dealership here in concord NC to get an estimate.

Doors are actually pretty cheap if you look around. I bought one for my old LT1 for $75. The issue is getting the paint to match. Try to find one the same color as your car or at least a black or white one so it will be easier to paint. The biggest issue is going to be painting the inside of the door, which you're going to have to completely strip down if you want it done right if you can't find one in stock color.

dealership said $1,200 for the door, mirror, paint, trim piece, an "trans am" emblem. they claim a used door is $480 but iv seen them FAR cheaper than that. will they put a new sticker on the door with all the codes an stuff?

I'd just pay your deductible and get it fixed the right way. Lots of hassle trying to find a used door and getting it painted it will easily go over $500 if you want it done right specially with paint cost

yeah pay your deductable and let someone else handle the problem.
you probably could find a door for cheep, but even a black one might not match your car right, and after a paint you would be at you 500 dollar deductable anyways.

I found doors for about $50-$100 complete for sale, if you really want to save money and wait, you can get it cheaper without using your insurance and having it go up.

Wait, if someone hit you, why isn't their insurance paying for it?

message me them digits, it might be to my benefit to not claim it on insurance since its relatively easy to hang a door an then the carfax will still be clean.

No no, why are you or your insurance paying anything at all? THEIR insurance should pay every penny, not yours.

oh i apologize it was a hit-a-run in the mall parking lot. no cameras no witnesses, it was dark when i got in my car so i didnt even notice it until the next morning. it just cracked the door straight down the center, no pieces missing or dent, just about a 14inch crack down the door.
