Hey, I found a Trans Am that I'm considering buying, but the paint is heavily damaged on the hood and spoiler (Clearcoat failure). The price is pretty much a steal, even with the damage so I'll probably get it.

My question is, how much would a decent matching paintjob be? The car is silver. Anouther question is, how much would it cost to repaint it in that Fire Red color? Eventually I'd like to make it red, and if the difference isn't that bad then it might be worth it to just go ahead and do the color swap.

I could prep the car myself, how much would that save?

How much would it cost to do it myself as well? I'm considering all options. I could probably prep the car myself as well.

macco $300 up to a professional of thousands. Preping car will save lots of money and then have it sprayed. DIY cost depends what materials you use and what equipment you have.

 

Really the prices are all over with shops for a full paint job. When I got quotes some where over 7,000. Its currently getting painted at a shop for $3300
