Default Clear coat peeling?

So I have a 2000 Silverado RCSB. I walked out to meet my friend yesterday and saw what looked to be clear "film" peeling from the hood. I asked my friend about it and he said it could be clear coat peeling.

It's been raining for the past week or so with no real sunlight so I was very surprised. I have kept the truck clean and always used a wax or at least a quick detail on it.

Is it possible the coat of wax is peeling and not the clear?

Sorry I don't have pictures, I can try to get some later today after work.

You need pics, and basically if it look like its coming off, its clear coat. Should look cloudy white, may have texture.

Wax would not do what you are describing.

It's very clear. Almost like old, dried up tint (but clear).

LOL, if its similar to this then its a clear issue, good ol' GM had some pretty shitty paint issues. My entire hood is now satin NBM & my quarters are catching up slowly. I also have paint peeling on my sail panel. Started as bubbles, then clear now base coat.

Yep, clear defect. Thats how mine started, after a good snow I found pockets of water between the clear & base coat. Once those started it started to peel everywhere like the plague. Then when summer came it got bad & the quarters started to defect as well.

Well that's no fun...

It's a work truck for the most part anyway, but I do keep it clean so it's really weird. Stupid paint. Oh well. Thanks!
