Default best way to clean ls6?

hey guys so ive been searching a good way to prep an ls6 intake i bought off ebay since i plan on painting it but not sure what the best way would be to go about cleaning it? the thing is pretty dirty but not sure if i can just hose the top down and use a sponge to clean it up? heard of people using degreaser but how would i go about getting it off after? any and all help would be appreciated.

degrease it for sure then scrub witha nylon brush of some sort an rinse with hot water if you have access to it. thats how i degrease my motor every month an havent had a problem with it.

why paint it? most paints will most likely insulate it , thus hold any heat in..which is 1 of the reasons for a plastic intake NOT to hold the heat, to dissipate it..
