Paint Gurus: Come on in.
Anyhow, I am the type that likes clean and simple on vehicles. I want to remove the emblems and the side moldings from the car, but after removing one emblem I noticed it pulled some clear coat with it. Underneath the emblem appears to be the original paint/clear coat. You can see an outline of an S in the clear coat. It appears as though they did remove the badges as they were super glued back on.
I'd like to know if it is feasible to wetsand the clear coat and polish it out? My issue here is that i've never done this. Should I use a 1500 grit or a 2000 grit, then after that what is the best way to polish it out?
The car is BLACK so I want to make sure that if I do this it doesn't leave swirl marks, and the paint turns out polished and not hazy.
Please, give suggestions and even step by step tutorials.
Thanks.
what is most likely is in pulling off the badge you lifted the the entire new paint in that area off, like I said if they didn't prep the surface properly the paint job "chips" easily, if you where the one who had it done go back to them to have it fixed if the PO did it then you are probably SOL, it is standard practice for them to remove badges but they should have used double sided tape to reapply not superglue.
