Default FAST 102 Make over

So I received my fast 102 the other day and wanted to give her a make over so she looks all bad *** under the hood.

I hit up Ray and we went and got all the stuff needed to paint the intake manifold. We ended up getting the same paint as my car.

Here are a few pics of the intake right now. Pictures consist of bare, primered, painted. The top of the intake looks silverish but that's because of the fluorescent lights.

We will be shooting some clear tonight and then installing the intake in the next day or two.

Big shout out to ray for helping me out with this project. Learning so many things about painting already.

Here are some more pics guys.

The man himself getting down.

Yesterday Ray and I installed the Fast 102 intake manifold and really cleaned up the car.

Here are some pictures.

Can't wait to see how the car will look with a few other things painted as well...

Once again, thank you very much Ray. You did an outstanding job.

Looks really good. It looks to have a glass like appearance. How much sanding did you have to do to get it glass smooth like that?

Kinda curious how it holds up to heat on a hot summer day in stop and go traffic?

Tons of others have done this (FAST and LS6 intakes) and I've not seen, or heard of anyone, saying heat did anything to the paint/clearcoat. You can run your call all day long on the hottest day of the year and you can touch the intake without having to remove your hand because of heat, so heat is not going to cause issues to the paint/clearcoat, as long as it was prepped correctly.

Didn't really sand the intake down.

Cleaned her up
sprayed some bulldog adhesive promotor
sprayed some duplicolor primer
Painted the intake with a few coats of PPG paint
Let it dry and cure over night..
Sprayed a few coats of clear coat on it the following day
Let it dry and cure for 3 days
Wet sanded the intake
polished it out and then installed the intake

No problems with heat

Yup. I think letting the paint and clear coat dry and cure plays a big role in the final product as well.

I used decocolor paint markers

I used silver and red paint markers to paint the letters on the intake manifold.

Then sprayed clear coat on it after.
