Painting calipers
I just got two Cardone calipers from summit racing. I'm going to paint them red, but I was wandering if I still needed to sand them if they're pretty much new looking. I'm guessing I do because it looks like they may have been repainted, but I just want to make sure. Thank you in advance.

If they were mine I would degrease the sh*t out of them, wire brush, then sand them. Or you could use a burgundy scotchbrite pad. They should scuff them up enough. But the key is to make sure there is no grease on them, and make sure there is no dust on them when you paint them or that could effect adhesion as well. I was thinking of painting mine red (too lazy right now) and from what I have seen the paint for calipers is pretty hardcore stuff so it should bit into a clean caliper.

I just got done painting my calipers today lol
I did the rears yesterday and the fronts today...
I took them apart and sprayed the brackets with an aerosol can and hand painted the calipers..
I wanted to be thorough so it took two days..
As far as cleaning I used brake cleaner, wax and grease remover and I scuffed them up some with a dremel tool
