Default Mirror mirror on the door...

You ain't gonna flop no more.

Yeah, I had the broken pot metal mirror mount issue on my '01 Firebird. I JB Welded it and that lasted maybe 2 days. This morning I had an idea.

I used a scrap piece of bicycle cable. OK, it wasn't scrap... I cut it off the tag end of the rear brake. The brake operation is not affected, and I haven't ridden the silly thing in years anyway... but I digress. I JB Welded it again but added a little something extra.

I found some round crimp lugs that fit the cable screw and threaded post on the mirror mount. A little bending, measuring, crimping, soldering and screwing pretty much guarantees that I'll not have this issue again.

Pics are worth 1000 words, so here are several thousands worth.

Pretty cool fix. I can find the metal pieces in the junkyard for $3 a pop so I didn't try to fix mine.
