I think everyone has this problem with the creaking popping door. I wanted to just buy new hinges, get them painted and install but of course no one has the driver side and the passenger side is avail at CI but is super expensive. I found the parts on ebay and amazon and made a shade tree video of replacing the roller.

Nice writeup. My drivers side creaks a bit but doesn't pop or anything, so I thought oiling the hinges might help but it didn't. I'll have to look into this and see if this is what's causing it. Thanks for sharing
