Paint Code Question I have a 2002 Trans Am with paint code 44 (maple red metallic). I am looking to match the flat/base paint that is in the engine compartment. Everything I have attempted to use matches the exterior of the car. I have tried looking online to no avail. If anyone can enlighten me, I would greatly appreciate it.

You may be experiencing the results of heat fade/years of general engine grime/etc. causing a mismatch between the engine bay and exterior paint.
I've used regular exterior base (NO clear) touch-up paint on my engine bay with excellent match results in the past, but that was on my very low mile show car (engine bay has always been kept super clean, plus very little mileage on the car in general). Even still, I do recall it being slightly glossier but not enough to stand out. I tried the same thing on my much higher mileage (and much less clean) daily driver and the results were not nearly as good (a mismatch, as you have described). Fade and grime seem to be a bigger issue for the non-clear coated surfaces found in the engine bay.
