Some Sail Prep Question

Some Sail Prep Question I've searched all the stickeys, and have the TSB but have a few questions
I acquired a sail from a 94 Z, that will be going to my body shop for epoxy primer and paint.
This being said when I get mine off :
-I am going to remove the excess Urethane, and lay down a "primer" for the urethane, can I do this and let it cure for a while, or is there a time between primer + new urethane that has to be done?
-With back seal removed from T Top Bar, it appears I can slip out and in new sail which would allow for quicker testing of fitment with t tops, any advise here?
Plan on removing mine the week before I get sail back to have it all prepped and ready
