Default Did some paint correction and ceramic this weekend

I had paid someone to come out and detail my Camaro a couple of weeks ago. Hauling it 2300 miles in the dead of winter had left it absolutely trashed. (Of course, I forgot to take a before picture, mostly because it was too painful to look at). The results from his work though left quite a bit to be desired.

Tons of swirls everywhere. Evident especially on the hood.

More swirls, haze, and completely untouched scratches

This one was odd. When shining a light from my flashlight the paint had an almost mottled look to it. Early signs of oxidation maybe? In any case, you can see even more scratches here that went completely untouched.

Hood after two passes of compound and polish

Same spot on the trunk lid. Massive improvement!

Just after two passes of compound.

Same spot after polish. Always makes me smile seeing the clarity that shows up once some polish gets laid down!

Got the car fully ceramic'ed as well. The shine is officially un-real on the car. Lights inside the garage don't do it justice. Once the sun decides to come out and give me some decent weather I'll update this post with more pics!

Also for those curious, I used Adam's products!

Looks good. Black is so hard to work with. I did a two step on mine. I used Koch Chemie H9.02 with a red meguiars microfiber cutting pad and then I finished with Koch Chemie F6.01 with a Meguiars Black Finishing Microfiber to pull out the flake in the silver. I debated on which coating I wanted to use, but since it will sit inside and never see rain I didn't go with my go to Undrdog Pro+ I used Koch Chemie C0.02.

Nice man, that looks amazing! Black is definitely nigh-impossible. It doesn't help that my car has 170k on it and the paint has taken a beating over the last 22 years. This was just me making it as pretty as I could while I save up to get some fresh paint laid down. I think this will be my last black car though lol.

Black is best for a car that is in a collection. It shows everything. I get sick looking at black cars with drive thru car wash swirls. My last LS1 was black and it had right around 100k. It was in rough shape. How you have to look at it is, its not brand new. Its going to have stuff that wont come out. All you can do is do everything you can to get it to the best version of itself lol. You did a great job!

I've only had one black car, it was an '89 Formula 350. I sold it in 1999. That was the first and last time I've ever owned black...lol.

With that said, I actually think I'd be more willing to have a black car as a daily driver than for a garage queen - reason being, I'm really picky about the paint on those and no matter how nice you get black to look, it's already dusty by the time you get to an event. Then it needs cleaning again. I don't worry quite so much about perfection with my drivers. Even still, black is never a color that I purposely seek out and and it would need to be a pretty good deal for me to consider it.

But back on point - BOTH Camaros in this thread look to have come out with some beautiful finishes!
