Default problem with ground effects

Got all the pieces I needed for the V-6 Ground effects kit, sanded em painted em with acrylic enamel got everything done, was just excited to get em on the car, got em looking good and smooth. Put em on the car and BAM the color doesn`t match up, next bad thing it starts chipping in the front. Now I have a question, I have started over piece by piece and am using laquer instead, have the correct color and am really taking my time this time around.....still rattle canning it though: Is it more probable to chip just the same? I don`t use adhesion promoter, just sanding, priming, sanding, priming, sanding, color, sanding, clear.........does anyone have any advice on this? The first one is done, it looks really good....am I just wasting my time this way? Sorry so long just wanted to be detailed, any questions hit me up, ADVICE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!

i've never really heard of anyone painted ground effects with a rattle can, i'd just get it done the right way but then again that cost just a LITTLe more money. maybe someone else can chime in.

Rattle canning ground effects is pretty much a waste of time IMO.
Here is a link to how to paint plastic, which is basically what you have:

You can probably skip the first couple steps as the GFX shouldn't have a pebble like finish that I was talking about when writing this. And YES, you really should use an adhesion promoter and flex additive on these.

Also you really should be using a 2 part urethane system with basecoat/clearcoat applications for durability and UV resistance.

well, since I already have the paint and supplies, I shall conduct a test, one side without adhesion promoter, and one side with, one side with only 3 coats of clear like the can suggests, and one with 5 coats, any other suggestions while Im at it?

Parbreak- do laquers fade badly? I`m just wondering.....

why not do both sides with adhesion promoter? itd bea waste of time to strip it all back down just to get adhesion promoter underneath it all. do dont things twice, do it right the frist time...saves money, time, and headaches.

Not to burst your bubble, but yes, I can tell. They have a completely different shine/sheen to them. I do however hope they hold up well for you.

Ditch the rattle cans and pony up the dough. Do it once… and do it right!

ok, got some pics, you can see the difference in the side ground effects color from the rest of the car, and the other two with the piece thats finished, except the clear coat was a bit thing up front and cracked so thats +1 for the 4-5 coats of clear instead of 3 like the cans directions say, whatcha all think though as far as color and finish? apologise for the blurriness in the last pic.
