Default Hood swap this weekend - tips?

I'm switching hoods, putting on my new aftermarket hood this weekend. Anyone have any tips for me? I plan on having a buddy come over to help hold it in place.

cover the top corners of the fender where the hood mounts with masking tape to protect from nicks and scratches. I wish I did that when installing my cowl you may need to re-align the latch, just take your time.
PS. the stock hood is pretty heavy

Take your time and just use common sense. I like to remove the latch and get the hood to fit in the opening first. Once I have the hood aligned then I go back and align the latch to the striker. and like socal said use the tape it is cheap insurance. Once you have it installed grab a lawn chair and a 12 pack of your choice and enjoy. Just dont do the 12 pack first. I have tried it this way and I end up getting nothing done. Good luck.

Pretty much what has already been advised, along with maybe adding one more helper. Get a couple of guys that are mature enough that you can trust that they are paying attention and care that your car/hood does not get damaged.. One guy on each side, and you putting the bolts in should be a pretty secure way to do it.

Good luck, and let us see the results when done.

P.S. Like already stated, use your tape for paint protection, just in case.

I would probabally put masking tape all the way down the fender edges and front of bumper cover just to be safe.

Take a dremel with a metal bit, or a large drill bit and enlarge all of the holes on the mounting arms. This will enable you to move the hood around and easily align it.

I'm going to see how it fits and hope for the best first before I go enlarging any holes. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll fit up well the first time.

That's always the best option, in my opinion. Mock it up, and if it does not fit, then you can take the next step.

Good suggestion by phantomzer0, if the hood does not fit the normal way, though.

at the risk of getting flamed, I bought an OEM SS hood off another member here on the board. Keeping the Z28 logos though....

Finally got around to installing the sucker yesterday. After about three tries of aligning the hinges and hood, I got all the side gaps looking good and the front gap perfect. Installed the latch and it closes perfectly. Only problem is that on the driver side, the hood sits about a quarter inch HIGHER than the fender. The gaps are fine, but the hood sits high. Any suggestions?
