Default NEW to powder coating...

Going to a couple local shops to check on powder coating this weekend... wanted to hear from you guys what are average prices for items such as... 1.)valve covers
2.)maf ends
3.)alternator cover
4.)alternator bracket
5.)lt1 intake

If anyone can toss out some prices they have paid so I know what to expect I would appreciate it, another option may be getting high temp vht paint and high temp clear and doing it myself... any opinions on that route are welcome as well... thanks in advance guys!

Go to bmrfabrication.com and look in the custom powdercoating section. They give a couple ball park figures for some of those items.

The cost associated with such parts depends on the set up. For instance, the guy I go to has a large oven. If I were to bring the parts you have over there, he would ask me if I had anything else to fill the oven, or the time may be a bit longer as he would wait until he gets enough parts to fill the oven. He shoots black and greys everyday, so that would not be a problem, but I had my motorcycle frame powdered a specialty color, and that was more due to nothing else being coated at the same time that color. I hope my explaination makes a bit of sense. In addition, the labor of masking off certain sides of the part will make a difference in cost as the labor involved is a little more. Take for instance a 10 spoke camaro wheel. It is less labor to shoot it all one color, as opposed to covering the spokes and having the outer rim one color and the spokes stock color.

I went to the web site and it seems to have more new things for sale then prices on getting items powder coated... I was just looking for general prices. Anyone have opinions on just using like some vht high temp paint to paint those items... would it be a lot cheeper than powder coating?

I powdercoat on the side and wesst is right about the labor. valve cover, maf's, alternator parts are easy, I've done them all before. The lt1 intake is going to be alot harder and alot more time consuming. I charge $40-60 valve covers (set), MAF's are $20, all the alternator stuff would be about $50-60. I charge $100 for LS1 intakes so the lt1 would probably be $150 because of alot more prep time.
