rust near gas cap.. pics...
rust near gas cap.. pics... In the gas cap under the plastic cover I have rust. Right now I am in the process of sanding, applying a rust stop agent and painting over it. My qustion is what type of "foam" can I put between the two metal panals that is missing in the pic?
i donno if it was foam in there i would get some seam sealer and squeeze some in the seam then you can take an acid brush and dip it in some laquer thinner and smooth the seam seal out the make it look more factory....iv never heard of foam to seal panels... only for sound deadening...

Honestly, I would not bother to make a bigger mess with putting anything like foam in there. Man, it looks like cancer is eating your car alive!
I would just fix it the correct way with replacing the whole panel that is rusted out. That is the only real good answer for the problem. I'm sure all the metal surrounding that spot is pretty soft too, if you took a hammer and tapped on it. Sorry for your problem, rust is no fun to deal with.
