To Early to Wax ?
To Early to Wax ? Had my hood and rear panel painted on my car a week ago and wondered if its to early to do the three step wax job on my car? Cleaner step, polish and wax? The color they painted was the original color of the car if that matters. Want to go to a car show this weekend but I wanted to wax it.
Will it hurt anything? Bodyshop didn't tell me anything.

If it has been buffed or not does not have anything to do with it. With a urehtane paint system you should wait 120 days before waxing. If you wax before that time frame you seal off the paint so it cant breathe. What happens is that solvents get trapped in the paint and cause a haze effect on the paint. Just dont rush it and you will be just fine.
I've spent many a days in the body shop, buffing has no effect on the time period on which you can wax, if anything wetsanding and buffing decreases surface area and extends the time period, thats stupid. Wait 4-6 months depending on weather.
Well I hope that I didn't screw anything up? My hood was repainted a week ago with my red trunk lid. Today I did the three step with cleaner, polish and wax. The car looks really shiny and slick probably the best that it has ever looked. Did I mess up and the paint will look bad later because I didn't wait? Thanks

I had my hard top roof replaced/painted black about 8 months ago by a GM dealer. I was told 6 months is the standard time to wait before claying, waxing, but I think I'll wait a bit longer. I'm in Houston (quite humid), so I would imagine that this would delay the paint curing process?
