Default Removing old masking tape

Once regular masking tape has been on a piece for a long time, is there any way to get it off without have the surrounding paint peel off with it?

I was thinking of using a hair dryer to slowly heat the tape and gently pull it off away from the painted section. Should this work? Or am I going to end up tearing off some of the paint as well?

you should be fine with heating it up with a hairdryer and peeling it off.once it is off use some of that liquid sticker remover to get the rest of it off
