Quick Base Coat Question...

Quick Base Coat Question... I decided on a color for my car (I think) and it's Vivid Blue Pearl off Acura RSX's.
The color:
Along with Starfire Pearl Z/28 stripes... Now my question is if I got an Orion Silver basecoat would the metallic show through enough to even bother with laying the silver base? I like metallics but I can't find any metallic blues that are light enough and I was curious to know if it's worth a shot.
Also, if so how many quarts should I buy?

Im not exactly sure what you are looking for out of your paint job but If that isnt a tri coat style color(where the blue would be a tint over a base coat most likely silver) or a candy which it doesnt look like, then you would probably just be wasting your time and money on the extra paint. hope that helps
youll be wasting your time either way by laying down the silver... because no matter if its a 2 stage or 3 stage color its gonna have a solid color that is gonna go down and will cover any silver that you put down... that blue probably isnt a solid color you know im sure in the sunlight it will pop and sparkle... but if you want some mettallic have them custom make some of that blue with metal flake in it... just tell them to document of much % flake they put in and what grade flake they put in becuase if they dont youll never match the color again....
I don't think you will get the effect you want with the blue and silver. Some colors do tend to "pop" more when layed over a different color. Like spraying a red base over a yellow base will quite often make the red more brilliant.
