Removing Window Rubber Strips

Removing Window Rubber Strips How do you remove the rubber strips at the top of the door that rub against the window? im replacing 94-95 style ones with the newer ones (GM new) i know they usually slide or pop off well neither of those worked
You have to pull the mirror off the door first and I like to use a thin putty knife to remove them. Just slide the putty knife between the door and the belt moulding and give it a light shock with a small hammer. This will pop the clips loose from the inner door structure and the moulding will pop right off.
When you put the new one back on the door I twist the front retainer clip off the moulding and trash it. This way it will slide freely between the mirror mounting bracket and the door shell. The clip isnt needed anyway since the mirror holds pressure on the moulding.
Be sure to put a strip of tape on the door before reinstalling the mouldng or there is a good chance that you will scratch the door. If you have never done this before I can allmost guarantee you will scratch the door. The clips go into the second slot not the first. Its also easier to remove the two felt glass guides on the upper door frame, this lets you tilt the glass away from your work erea.
