Dude your car would be HEAVY! Not to mention whatever your coating has to hold up to the intense heat it takes to bake on the powdercoat.

You cant powder coat plastic which is what most of the body on the car is made out of.. It has to be able to conduct a charge to be powder coated..

Not excatly, they have now been very successfull with coating plastics, and wood, due to coating materials and curing methods. Go to thepowdercoater.com , they have some powdercoated ls6 intakes, and fuel rail covers, very cool stuff.

there is no way it is authentic chrome over plastic chrome plating is a combo of coper nickel then chrome chemicaly bonded to metal. the stuff that is on plastic is not the same altho it looks like it. as for powder coating a body yes it is possible and no it will not wave sheetmetal not that hot. they powder coated project f-bomb (the flat green second gen camaro in hot-rod) but they only used it as a primer for the metal not the finished project. so yes u can powder coat a car just no reason to

but if this is a 4th gen.... there is very little sheetmetal on the car.

I've got a better question though.....

WHY are you wanting to do this???????

The top chrome layers are. They have to coat it in something else before the nickel and copper layers, but the end result is the same. A friend had his plastic overflow and washer fluid tanks on his GN chromed and it turned out awesome. They were heavy as hell when done though.

Not to mention price. I had a guy do that to his fibreglass rear motorcycle fender and it was almost 2k.

durability would be the only thing that would make it better than paint but you have to have perfect metal any body work will buuble from the heat
