How to fix this:
#21
I've done bodywork before, I dont think this will be easy at all, I think it's possible if I get a donor car though
I'm about to learn how to weld, my dad can weld and he has a big heated pole barn to work in.

Ohh and by the way your better off buying a new quarter pannel becase if you dont they will send you half a back of a car with just that side intact and you have to cut off yourself. From what i seen ( i didnt count them all ) theres a good 300+ tack welds holding it on tht have to be grinded off.

I'm definetely looking for a donor to go through with this
gm wanted 400+ for a 1/4
i can find a 93-97 roller for under 1K and part it out and get my money back or look for a 98+ roller and get some other needed parts

i do paint and body for a living on porsches and ferraris, heres what i think
Its hard to tell from the pic how bad the damage is, but a good metal guy can fix that, remember the good in that sentance
doing body work and replacing a quarter panel are two diffrent things, belive me when i tell you, you are going to destroy this car if you try it
Buying a donar car and cutting the quarter off is a stupid idea, for the price of the car and the time involved you could have already had it fixed at that point, plus a newb like you will destroy the metal trying to get the spot welds out like said above.. You will most likely make this car worse so i would just bite the bullet and pay for it to get fixed, you can save yourself tons of cash by taking the car apart yourself before it goes to the bodyshop
If you plan on fixing the quarter like the drawing you had on page 1, and you dont even know how to weld yet, your going to warp the hell out of the metal and most likely blow through, not to mention welding in the middle of a panel like that is not a good idea.
Dont try to fix this yourself, your going to ruin a nice car

I've watched and helped my instructor replace a few 1/4's and even after all that and the other things I've done, I don't think I could do one by myself, not and be happy with it atleast.

i can find a donor for 1500 and make at least that back on parting it out. At least having the part may end up saving me money on parts vs 500 bucks that GM wants for a new one.
the drawing i made is not my plan at this point after tearing it down further

For the love of god just please pay to have it done right, you alredy got the car for cheap i mean **** your still WAY ahead... most of us payed 15000+ for our cars in some cases 25000+ and thats just for the car and no mods.
You said you got yours for around 1500, just do it the right way.
