Default Need advice on preping wheels for paint

Hi guys, everything Ive been reading about preping/painting wheels is being done for older/worn wheels. I bought a set of silver painted c6 corvette wheels. They are flawless as the car only had 37 miles when they came off. I plan to use the Duplicolor wheel paint kit but Im still kinda clueless on what's gonna be my best bet as far as preping. Any advice is welcome and much appreciated. Thanks!

if there not chipped, i would just scuff them up with a scotch brite pad.there's an adhesion promoter called bull dog,you get it at wall mart.it's a clear spray you spray on the rim,it sticks to the rim and then to the paint your gonna spray.i would also use a automotive clear after paint.omni clear coat is good.you'll need a spray gun though, but it looks awesome and protects the paint from dulling.i really don't like canned clear.there may be something out there in a can that is good ,but i haven't heard of it.also alot of people use bull dog on door jams.it saves alot of prep work.personally i had good luck with it.

Default to paint wheels

Well It is kind of simple to paint them. Just Sand them.......and sand them........and sand them some more.......then just another quickie for good luck and then a good rinse down, dry and paint

Cool sounds fairly easy, I was wondering how much Ill need to scuff or sand the origional paint. Not sure what kinda clear/sealer they come with.

scuff it enough to where there's a dull finish so the bull dog will stick to it.i think you wait about 15 min. then apply paint over the bull dog adhesion promotor.
