Default Making Carbon Fiber

I'm wondering off the top of my head... If you have a piece you want accented in carbon fiber, could you just:

1. glue some of the black weaved carbon fiber material to the piece
2. put a few coats of fiberglass resin on it
3. wet sand/polish the crap out of it

If it can be done this way, then I want to know where to get some of this black weaved material. Let me also put this disclaimer on my post: I'm just looking to make some visual accents, these pieces are NOT being made for functionality, so I'm a ricer, or whatever.

Oh, okay. Basically, though, it can be hand-laid like I kind of explained? Kinda like you'd do with fiberglass?

yes it can, you can roll the bubbles out of it with a fiberglass roller. Without the vacum bag it will be harder to wrap some stuff and may be wavy

Some friends of mine are big into jet-ski's and were doing their own fairings and stuff out of carbon fiber. They were saying its not that hard to get the hang of.

search for "carbon fiber tutorial" in YouTube. There's a few videos, especially the select products videos. It will give you an idea of what you need and how expensive it will be.

If you have never done it, it'll be a bitch your first time. You gotta be very careful not to screw up your weave in the carbon fiber. Which is very easy to do. It sounds like a simple process until you actually get the products & try it out yourself. Then you'll realize why premade carbon fiber pieces cost so friggin much.

Also for the right look you need to choose the correct weave pattern. And last time I checked UScomposites they were getting up there in price & availability was very limited cause everyone was buying it up.
