Default Flattened clear...

With the recent pictures of flat and satin black fbodies I wondered about spraying a flat clearcoat over a factory or custom paintjob. I found that PPG makes a flattened clearcoat-DCU 2060. Not sure if anyone wants to play around and try this out but it might be a neat effect and easier than doing a whole car in flat black.

i have used that clear before, and you can play with the hardner/reducer to achieve certain degress of gloss, its a great product

I was thinking about doing something similar, they sell flattening agents you put in your clear to flatten it out. I am still just trying to figure out which way I'm going as I've only had this for for a few months.

ppg does not use a flatting agent in the clear, if you do the clear turns white or none of the others i know of, the clear he is talking about the degress of gloss are achieved by the hadner/reducer and it is a uv protectant clear, its a awesome product

You don't change the degrees of gloss in 2060 by using the reducers and hardener. You do it by adding normal clear to it (like lets say 2042) to acheive desired amount of gloss. If you get a Product sheet on the 2060 it will show the formulas as to how to intermix the clears to achieve different degres of gloss.

If you mix 2060 normally it is flat and I mean flat flat, to get say a semi gloss it calls to mix (If using 2042) to mix it 85% 2060 to 15% 2042 then add your hardner and reducer. If you have ever payed attention the the lower plastics on a Poniac Montana van you would have noticed that it s rather dull will little shine. To achieve that look (Still using 2042 for a regular clear) that would be mixed 90% 2060 to 10% 2042 then add reducer and hardner.
