Default Painting INTERIOR!

Hey guys I want to transform my interior from the dark gray to black. What kind of paint is everyone using for the interior? Did you need primer or anything? How is it all holding up? Any other info would work too!

I think a lot of people who have converted have actually replaced the carpet, seats, dash, etc. with the black parts, not painted them. I think painting the dash would just look tacky IMO, especially since you can't paint the seats and carpet and such.

lol I hear ya on that. I'm getting different seats and was planning on changing the carpet. But do you know any site that would sell all the parts to complete this or would i need to just go junk yard and pull it out of another car?

I just did the swap about a month ago.. the only things i've painted was the door panels/and plastic panels back to the hatch. and headliner, i bought a dark gray carpet. put semi gloss dupilcor and clear adhesive primer.. looks good....

make sure u get semi gloss, if u get flat, it will look like ur panels are dusty at all times....

sem makes a good product for painting interiors. simply use a scotch brite gold or white scuff pad and scuff paste to scuff them and rinse them off totally. let them dry. use an adhesion promotor and let it flash off and spray away. personally i would cover everything in vinyl but thats just me.

Second on the SEM. I just used it on my dash that was discolored. I was amazed how well it turned out. Doesnt look painted....looks stock and is great! I cant get over how close to factory it looks. If you decide to use it make sure you get the soap and vinyl/leather prep they make.

Not sure if you can get a good idea of how it looks from these but it's all I have right now. I can pull the car out of the garage and get some better pics tonight

I'm glad your happy & it turned out perfect since I told you about the SEM auto dye. I personally don't think their is another rattle can product on the market period that can hang with the SEM products. Granted they are a bit more pricey than say Krylon fusion from Wal-Mart.

I already knew about the SEM stuff Mike . I was going to have some custom mixed for the vinyl so it would match the orange on the car...but then I found a vinyl made my ultraleather already the perfect color

I like the look of painted interiors when its not over done. The gauge bezel the radio trim the door handle covers, maybe even the circle part of the vents. I might do this to my WS6 the inside is just so plain looking. Looks good so far BTW

If you were looking at painting the interior plastics I would take a look at Gatorback. Its a product used to paint the cladding on Avalanches and such cars. Just google Gatorback Coatings
