Oxidized side view mirrors
I read the sticky on painting plastics, and cannot find anyone else who has attempted this on their own.
Any pointers, or How To guides on doing this with a spray can? I know it will take a few days probably, and that is fine as long as I can get them looking good again.
Thanks,
Josh
Sand the whole part down with 400 grit, feather edge the oxidized areas, 320 may be necessary. Wipe down the area with a surface prep or lacquer. Wipe down the bare plastic area with plastic adhesion promoter or use Bulldog adhesion promoter. spray the bare plastic with primer (rattle can is fine), wait the appropriate amount of time (as per instructions on can) before blocking with 400 wet, then 600 wet. Then spray with black trim paint.
If you want something glossier then I suppose you can try just any gloss black and then rattle can clear.
I'm giving you this advice because I don't think you want to do catalyzed primer and base/clear as it will cost you more than having someone else do it in the end.
