Default car dies at 6000

Not sure what section to put this in but here goes.

A friend calls me today asking what his problem might be with his car. He is saying that when the car hits 6000 it shuts off and he has to turn switch off and restart car.

The engine has been rebuilt and has heads/cam. He says he has carried it to a shop that keeps telling hims its the crank sensor but they have now put 3 crank sensors in it.

Any ideas?

6000 in any gear? A quick thought is speed limiter (what is it set to) and rev limit. Speed limit will darn near shut off the car but a rev limit won't.

All it has is a TSP mail order tune.

The car shuts off completely. It has to be switched off and back on to restart.

Sounds very similar to a problem I had. I melted my crank sensor wires down where they go into the crank sensor. Mine would backfire really loud & shut down. It would start right back up though.

Yeah, I was thinking a pinched wire to the crank sensor or something. Just dont know why it shuts the car completely off at 6000.
