Theoretical Tuning question here
you have a force induction car where you are still on the rich side of rich best torque and your still on the underside of your timing for MBT (in other words you cant have mid 12 AFR without reducing timing into mid teens)
now, rich fueling is a common method of cooling charge and detonation protection
so without methanol and what not
would it be better to lean out to rich best torque and then adjust timing until knock kicks in
or...
have lower AFR (within reason) until spark timing is at MBT
and for those who dont like reading
lean AFR or High spark timing?
My opinion of this is. Go for being on the rich side of lean best torque and tune timing for mean best torque. Monitor EGT to find how rich you need to be to keep temps below about 1375F for a street car.
