Get a pack of 271-1330 these are 4.7K resistors. Put 2 of them is series and put that across your wires. This will give you 9.4K of resistance, which is close enough.

Are you sure you read your key correctly?

That should work assuming they're at least 5% resistors. What's the resistance of them in series before putting them into the connector?

On the older setups using the VATS module, before they incorporated it the BCM, I've never had an issue, as long as it was within 10%

Buy 2 packs of the resistors(they're cheap enough) and measure all of them and pick the 2 that add up closest to the correct value.

Did you put 2 of them in series not in parellel?
what was the total resistence?

How did you hook it up? IMHO, taking the under the glove box panel off and going to the bcm connector, White with black stripe wire pin 7 with your resistors straight to ground is the most straight fwd method.

That is, for an Fbody.

Is this F or Y?

But he has to make sure he disconnects the wire going over to the key of the key will be in parellel and cutting the resistance in half

ok, heres what i just did. i took and unplugged the connector, put the key in and checked the wires from the key cylinder with the multimeter. i believe i should have gotten the same reading as the key, but i got nothing. does this confirm a broken wire in the column area?

What color are the wires on the plug you're checking?
