Attn Tuners, Question
this is a 2008 6.0 silverado, with American racing longtubes and cats, magna
flow catback, gmpp cai, and hpt tuning.
light came on after header install and is on with stock or my tune.
There is a TON of info on here about these codes and headers with various reommendations and it would take forever to get to the bottom line.
My question is..
if I turn off error reporting for the codes with hpt, could this hurt performance.
Is there is a legit condition that is occurring that should be addressed rather than just not reporting the error, o2's not switching properly etc
the truck doesn't run great when the light is on and SUCKS fuel big time.
So, could it be as simple as turning off error reporting for the codes?
Thanx in advance
I'd check the wiring to the sensor, since you had headers installed, it's not uncommon for the wires to get yanked out a little, or be touching after the install and get burnt...

i know they are working, i have watched on a scanner.
it takes two days for the codes to come on after clearing
so, the theory is the 02's don't get hot enough quick enough, and switch too slowly, so the light comes on
no easy fix for me, i know the 02's are ok,
checked the headers, no better place to move the bungs to. don't want to wrap them.
so, what is the down side of turning off error reporting for the code as Alvin says, any?
please elaborate
edit
well, i have fiqured out what i need to know,
turning off error reporting for those codes has no down side whatsover for operating condtions.
just prevents pcm from going to open loop and pouring in fuel to heat up 02's
my mpg now is 10.5 hope it improves with new setting
thanx to those that said the same but I was concerned as it is a new truck with zip miles and didn't want to f/anything up.
