Default what cable??

I have a 96 firebird with a 94 ecm and 94 motor. My car has the obd 2 port so would i just need an obd 2 cable for tuning with tuner cats?

You need an OBD1 cable interface with a OBD2 style connector. Google AKM Cables. They have everything you need.

If you can assemble components on a circuit board and know how to use a soldering iron, buy the kit and save some money. I built mine, but I worked as an electronic technician for 25 years. It's really not that hard.

$90 bucks aint that bad. If you can solder get the kit. If you cant solder buy the complete one.
