Okay I know some of you computer guru's can help me out. I know this is Evap control leak.......right? Other than the gas cap maybe setting this off. Where else do I need to look to fix this problem? Intake/egr? If anybody can help me out in pointing me in the right direction I would really be grateful!

Diagnosis over the internet is shooting in the dark...that being said. If the fuel cap is tight and the filler neck where the fuel cap o-ring meets the neck looks to be free of nicks and rust free, I would replace the EVAP vent solenoid. Let's just say that I see these on all Gm vehicles every day, and they haven't improved them a bit from your 2000. Job security I say...

 

smoke test if you wanna replace the cause and not just throw parts at it.

Yeah smoke test is the way to go since P0442 is for a small leak somewhere. Friend of mine had the same code and that's how they found it. He had a shop do it, once found the repair was easy.
