02?? i'm curious again. I want to take my cats off and was wondering if i get my car tuned and get rid of my back 02 sensors and i put my cats back on before i go to inspection if there will be a reading that the back 02's are not ready (or working) on there scanners at the inspection station. In nj they dont sniff just do a visual and plug the scanner in. The reason i want to take them off is because my check engine light keeps popping on for my drivers side rear 02. I think the cat maybe bad but slp said that it cannt be the cat so if i just eliminate it then it dont matter anymore. plus i want my car louder hehehe!
Tuning rear O2s out for the purpose of passing emissions is illegal, first of all. Second, you CAN tune out the rear O2s if you're pulling the cats.
Most emissions places plug in and simply check the computer for any codes and verify that it's passed all stored emissions testing routines.
