Rough idle
Rough idle My car has a very hard time idling and I'm not sure why. Its a 2001 ls1 with a 98 cam in it with LT and an slp loudmouth. When I used a Snap On scanner and looked at my data I noticed that my ignition timing at idle was jumping around anywhere from 14* to 21*. Is this normal? This is a fresh motor with less than 300 miles if that helps. Thanks
Timing will jump if the motor rpm and manifold pressure is moving around.
Your timing is probably adjusting trying to keep the car idle rpm steady.

Ironically, vacuum leaks usually make cam cars run better....to a point.
If you have a scan tool, you can log STerms/LTerms. If they are maxed at idle, but come down immediately when you step on the gas it is indicative of a vacuum leak.

you cant just install a cam and expect the car to run like stock
its going to starve for idle, its going to pop, fart, **** etc...
long story short, get a tune and it will run the way it should.
