Default shift light and logs

I just got my raptor shift light in the other day. I made a data log with my efi-live to monitor some other stuff. I had the shift light set to come on at 6700figuring that by the time i shifted, i would be at 6900 (where i want to be) but on the log my max rpm was like 6544. I shifted when the light was on. Could the update on the log be slow. It is very accurate with my rpm and mph on all my other logs. Should i set the light up to 7k. Are they known to be behind like the stock tach since they read off the same wire??. I figured it would be quicker not having to change elec pulse to mechanical motion.

I was always under the impression that the shift light was accurate since it's reading electronically, as you say. I thought the lag in the tach was the mechanical aspect of it. I would be interested to hear more input on this.

I suppose if you really need to know, you could always set the shift light at your redline RPM and just do a run not shifting until the light comes on. If you nail the limiter when the light comes on, you know it's accurate; if you nail the limiter before the light comes on, you know it's slow.

But you'd have to be willing to nail the limiter once in a WOT run.

I think my raptor light is pretty accurate. I've got it set to come on at 6800 (figuring by the time I shift it'll be 7000) and my logs consistently show very close to 7k shifts.

I wonder if i logged just the rpm pid, then the update would be faster. I will have to get out this weekend and play with it. I only tried it just the once. The rest of the log i was doing was for n20, and the last guy that tuned it had the box setup to cut the juice at 6k. I need to get that changed. I maybe will lower the limiter in the computer and set the shift light to that and see what it does.
