Throwing P0300 and P0171 Codes, Help
Just picked up an 02 Z28 from my brother in law, and it's been throwing the P0300 and P0171 Codes
P0300 is Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0171 is Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1
Before I got it, he changed the front o2's, (the rears are tuned out), and spark plugs. Reset the codes, and they still came back.
He was thinking unmetered air was entering the post MAF and possibly be causing the problem. I've never had to trouble shoot these kinds of things with my previous LS1's.
It's got a descreened MAF, "Homemade" smooth bellow. I noticed that the back side of the MTI clear lid is missing a chunk right under the sensor. Could this possibly be affecting it/ throwing the codes?
Any help would be appreciated guys.

Those codes together are telling. The misfire is on the driver's side. The fresh air from the misfiring cylinder(s) causes a false lean condition in the eyes of the PCM.
I would likely start by checking plugs and wires. After that, swap coil packs left to right and see if the problem moves. If not, swap sides with the injectors and see if the issue moves... It would helpful if you were able to scan and see what was going on.

What's the best way to check for faulty wires?
